Exploring New York City

It’s easy to forget how lucky I am to live in New York City. There is always something new to discover, some place new to explore. Now that I’m unemployed, I have a lot more time to reacquaint myself with this wonderful city of mine. The only problem is that I see this city as my home, not a travel destination.

In an effort to change my perspective, I will need a little assistance from you. I need you to help me pick a place you’ve always wanted to visit in New York City. Then, I will hope on the train (because that’s what real New Yorkers do) to your select destination and provide you with a photo collection of my day’s trip.

This week I’m going to visit The Cloisters. Where would you llike me to go next?

I can’t get enough of New York, I love it! Sorry to hear you’re out of work but as you say you can get to see so much of the city and make the most of it. You so have to go to Coney Island and eat fairy floss (Sorry, thats an Aussie thing – ‘Cotton Candy’ if you will!) and go on all the old rides!

    Enjoy exploring!

Wish I was back in NYC and could explore with you! There’s so much of that city that I feel I never explored when I was living there. I did, however, make it out to the Cloisters and absolutely loved it. It’s unbelievable that a place like that exists in NYC but then again, NYC is always full of surprises!

Isn’t it funny how we don’t explore our own areas?? Crazy but true!

The Lower East Side has a very interesting history and is great to wander. Or, I’ve always wanted to go to Fraunces Tavern.

The only places I can think of offhand that I haven’t yet been to in NYC are the Bronx Zoo and anywhere on Staten Island. Maybe I can check them off next month.

I’m taking my mom to New York this July for her birthday. She’s pretty excited about it because its her first time to visit NYC. I think this is one place on earth where you can see just about anything.

Wow – the last time I was at the Bronx Zoo was probably during an elementary school trip. It’s quite far from where I live in Brooklyn. I haven’t done much exploration in Staten Island either. Maybe I’ll check out that place too. I’ve been to a Tibetan museum there. It’s called The Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art.

Oooh…Le Petit Senegal! That’s an awesome idea! Next time you come back to NY, we have to go to this place called Les Enfant Terribles. It’s a restaurant that serves a fusion of African, Moroccan, Brazilian and French palette.

Aww…I wish you were here too so we can explore together! That would have been so much fun!

You got it babe! Chinatown is on my list of places to explore in NYC.

Haha! Fairy floss. It sounds waaay better than cotton candy. I think I’m going to start using that. :) I love right by Coney Island! I’ve been on the Cyclone rollercoaster before. That thing was so rickety I thought I was going to die.
